Welcome

Hello!

Welcome!

First of all, let me introduce myself: my name is Luciano Baptista, I’m a Brazilian professional musician since 1989. I live in Juiz de Fora, where I actively participate in the cultural scene, either performing, producing events or teaching - I am a Harmonica teacher at Centro Cultural Pró-Música (www.promusica.org.br). In the truth, the events I have the pleasure to produce are related to the harp and so, as it is the case of the “Gaitas da Cidade” (more details in the section “JF harps”). But my main activity and the one I like most is to play! And I’m playing a lot!!

Currently I take part of the musical group “Versão Acústica”, that accompanies the great musician and friend Emmerson Nogueira. Emmerson and I used to play together in the lands of Minas Gerais. We performed in bars, parties and expositions, in all the possible places… And it was an immense pleasure when I received his phone call, calling me to participate of the compact disc “Emmerson Nogueira Beatles” recordings! First, because I am an unconditional Beatles fan (and he knew that)! Second, because I consider this the fruit of a well done work in the past… One more time our partnership worked well. Soon after came the invitation to join the band and here we are, playing in the best houses of Brazil - Macapá, Belém, Manaus, Florianópolis, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Cuiabá, Campo Grande, Porto Alegre, Recife, Teresina, Brasilia, Vitória are only some of the various cities we visited in these two years and a half I am working with this wonderful crew.

Back to the website, here you will come to know a little more about my work and find useful information for who already plays or wants to play Harmonica:

You see, a bit of everything! I hope it helps you in your researches!

Get in contact with us! It will be a pleasure to answer you!

After all, what really is to be an artist?

In my entire musical career, I knew some kinds of artists, each one with its talent, its peculiarities.
But few of them congregate as many qualities in a so dense and varied universe as Luciano Baptista…
He plays a lot of different instruments, he is a singer, composer, teacher, colleague, friend… Extremely versatile, he transits with firm
steps through varied musical styles, since our Brazilian northeastern music, to Bossa Nova, Samba, MPB, Jazz, until the most beautiful and melancholic Blues from Mississippi, always with much dexterity, good taste and mastership. It is, in my opinion, the consequence of his vast cultural knowledge. Luciano not only lives music: inside of his immense range of abilities, he also walks comfortably
Luciano diz (17:43):
in the world of literature and poetry…

For me, this defines well what is “to be an  artist”.
